About Ruth LeFan, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a BS in Family Science from Oklahoma Christian University and a Masters of Social Work from The University of Oklahoma.

I am passionate about providing trauma-informed services for children who have experienced trauma, foster care, and/or adoption, as well as their parents and caregivers. I also work with adolescents and women facing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, perinatal (pregnancy and postpartum) struggles, parenting difficulties, stress management, low self-worth, life transitions, and conflict.

I am a TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) Practitioner and use therapeutic techniques from several modalities including Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and play therapy. I believe in a holistic, strengths-based approach to wellbeing, understanding that our mental health exists in the context of things like our physical health, our relationships, and our environments.

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but I strive to create a safe environment where my clients can feel seen, heard, and valued as their authentic selves. My goal is to compassionately support and empower my clients in addressing their challenges so that they feel hopeful about their futures and equipped to take steps towards their goals.

 FAQs

  • I currently accept Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and several Optum plans.

    I also accept private pay.

There are pros and cons to using insurance to cover therapy. While insurance does help with paying for services, it also requires me to provide you with a diagnosis in order for you to receive coverage. It may also dictate how many sessions you qualify for, and means that the insurance company will have access to some of your information. If you’d like to discuss the pros and cons with me feel free to reach out.

  • Yes! If you prefer to meet online rather than in person, I have virtual services available and am happy to meet with you through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform.

Please note that virtual services may not be the best option for everyone, especially younger children, so we may need to discuss whether it is a good fit.

  • A standard session is $150.

  • I accept credit and debit cards, FSA and HSA cards, checks, and cash.

  • The first couple of sessions are about getting to know you and your therapy goals, so they may look slightly different than an average session. This may include completing some assessments and/or answering questions from me about a wide variety of topics in your life to ensure that I understand why you are seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve with me. You are welcome to share as much as you feel comfortable sharing.

If you are a parent or caregiver seeking therapy for a younger child, our first session may be a caregiver only session. Future sessions may include the child individually, family sessions with the child and caregiver, and/or caregiver only sessions.

  • Sessions are typically around 50 minutes.
